Three leisure centres in the BCP Council area—Ashdown Leisure Centre,Rossmore Leisure Centre, and Poole Dolphin Leisure Centre—have undergone a £400,000 refurbishment. Managed under the council’s new BCP Leisure model, the facilities now boast upgraded fitness equipment, including modern cardio and strength machines, refreshed interiors, resurfaced floors, and improved workout spaces...

Councillor Richard Herrett, portfolio holder for destination, leisure, and commercial operations, expressed his enthusiasm for the changes, saying:
“I am delighted that the upgrades to our leisure centres have been completed, supporting our mission of making lifelong active living accessible and affordable to our residents.”
Council-Led Management Ensures Quality Facilities
The facilities transitioned to council management in October 2024 under BCP Leisure, which now oversees five sites, including Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre and Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre.
Councillor Herrett highlighted the benefits of localised management, stating:
“Bringing the sites into council-led management ensures residents can access more high-quality facilities and demonstrates how locally managed services can meet community needs.”
Swimming Pool Upgrades and Future Plans
Alongside gym improvements, the Two Riversmeet swimming pool received significant upgrades, including a new protective resin coating and fully refurbished filtration systems. Further work is planned to improve airflow systems and reduce running costs across all leisure centres, aligning with the council’s sustainability goals.
To celebrate the completed upgrades, the council is offering special discount deals to users. These improvements mark a significant step toward promoting active living and enhancing fitness facilities for the local community.
